Kristen Williams
Kristen (she/her) is an ERYT500, YACEP and founder of K10Yoga. She began yoga in 2007 while training for a half marathon and quickly learned how much more there was to this practice then just asana. She completed her 200 hour yoga training in April of 2011 under the direction of Valerie Baltzer and in March 2012 she completed her 300 hour advanced training. In 2012 Kristen completed a week long training with Seane Corn, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling as part of Off the Mat, Into the World’s Purpose in Action program. Kristen then quit her job and took off to Fiji to teach retreats. New Zealand, Australia, Belize, Canada and over 45 countries later Kristen has most certainly traveled the world & taught yoga!
In 2015 Kristen decided to open her own Yoga School and thus K10Yoga, RYS was born, offering Yoga Teacher Training programs at the 200 hour and 300 hour advanced levels to students in Winston-Salem, NC.
Kristen continued her education working with Nikki Myers and becoming a certified instructor for the Y12SR approach to yoga as a complement to addiction recovery. Additionally, she is also a Facilitator and Facilitator Trainer for The Embody Love Movement.
In 2017 Kristen developed an online yoga studio, filming classes all over the world, and launched K10Yoga CoOp: A Community Yoga Studio an affordable studio space in Winston-Salem, NC. The CoOp offers teachers the opportunity to have sustainable income and students to practice at a more accessible rate.
In 2018 Kristen joined the International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT) and brings elements of this continuing education into her practice, and training programs. She also attended the Skill in Action Workshop with Michelle Cassandra Johnson, the CTZNWELL Summit in Boone, NC and completed Off the Mat, Into the Worlds Yoga Purpose in Action 2.0 Training adding to her experience and education in recognizing systems of oppression within our culture and further answering her question of “who is not in our yoga spaces and why”
In 2019 K10Yoga officially became a non-profit and hosted the first ever Winston-Salem Yoga Festival with proceeds that gave back locally and included 2 full scholarships for K10Yoga Teacher Training programs. Kristen attended a 2 day Dismantling Racism training and was invited to speak at the SYTAR event in Newport Beach, CA with IAYT on creating conditions within the community for people to access yoga. She expanded programs into Knoxville, TN, Danville, VA.
In 2020 Kristen completed Trauma Informed Yoga Training with Hala Khouri for the second time. K10Yoga was added to the list of organizations supported by smile.amazon.com! In lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic K10Yoga CoOp have been closed with a new emphasis on K10Yoga Stream, the original online yoga studio. Kristen partnered with 18 Springs and local teachers in Winston-Salem, NC to create WS Wellness Reform and offer a free Dismantling Racism 4 Day Training to yoga studio owners, teachers and practitioners.
In 2021 Kristen continues to pivot in support of the well being of the community by offer Yoga Teacher Training programs online. She has also been invited to speak at a national conference on the relationship between yoga, trauma, and addiction. She offers mentor sessions for those who have attended the Embody Dismantling Racism Training and facilitating more community conversations that create action steps towards greater equality in Winston-Salem. Kristen co-facilitates a training to integrate the work of the Embody Love Movement with the Yoga of 12 Step Recovery. She has also added beekeeping to her list of skills and manages four hives on her property.
Kristen is an ambassador for Off the Mat, Into the World, Y12SR, Yoga & Body Image Coalition, The Embody Love Movement, International Association of Yoga Therapist, CTZNWELL and Jade Yoga Mats.
